As Seen on Pinterest: Criss-Cross Taping Pattern

Arden here:  I've got a quick "As Seen on Pinterest" for you today!  I saw this design on Pinterest last week, and knew I just had to try it!

I chose to use Butter London Fiddlesticks and Zoya Storm.  I started with a base coat, then two coats of Fiddlesticks (except for my accent nail, which was Storm).

I then used striping tape to tape off my nails in the criss-cross pattern.

I then painted over my nails in the contrasting color, and immediately removed the striping tape using tweezers.

After I finished each nail, I coated them all with a top coat (Essie Good to Go).  And voila!

As you can see, I had some bad trouble with shrinkage on my ring finger.  I'm not 100% sure what the problem was.  I think it might have been Storm's fault, since that was the base coat on that nail and I've had some trouble with Zoya's shrinking in the past.  Has anyone else run into this issue with Zoya nail polishes?

I really like this design, but I wasn't thrilled with how the colors look together.  I was hoping the pink would be more bright, but it actually didn't stand out as much as I wanted, so my nails as a whole looked really dark.  In the future, I'll definitely try this again with more contrasting colors.

What do you think?  Have you tried any striping tape patterns recently?
