I Can't Afford That: Zuhair Murad Couture

It's Lisl!  I'm back from my travels and, even though my brain is still somewhere between Greece and California (the Atlantic ocean?), I am painting my nails like I blog about it or something.  I started scrolling through Pinterest at some point when I was sitting on the couch and trying to get my mind right and saw this dress. This one. The one that is above these words. Oh man, guys. Want.

It's Zuhair Murad Couture and since I don't have any Award Shows on my schedule, I am sad to say I will not be purchasing and wearing it any time soon.  And also it is undoubtedly about 1 gajillimillion dollars.  But, I am a lady of action. I will not stand idly by and not recreate this dress on my fingernails.  (Cost < 1 gajillimillion).

I started with a base of Julep - Annette, since I don't have any rosey-nudes that are close to the color of the dress I chose a rosey-grey.  Then freehanded the blue branchy designs with Maybelline Color Show  - Sapphire Siren using a nail art brush.

I'm not sure I quite captured the intricacies of the design on the bodice and skirt, but I still love the way it turned out!  A lot of people mentioned it looks a little like coral on my nails, which I am totally down with.

To try to capture the layered effect of the skirt, I painted two coats of OPI - Don't Touch My Tutu, which is a white jelly over the blue on my pinky, ring and half of my middle finger.  This was surprisingly not streaky! I definitely want to play around with the concept some more.  Maybe with some colored jelly's next time?

So apparently I was gone for so long, that I forgot how this works and didn't take a picture of my thumb, which was actually my favorite nail.  So here is a hastily instagrammed shot.

I missed all of the couture from this season, but hopefully I can catch up and will be bringing you more "I Can't Afford Thats" soon!  If you have any dress requests let us know in the comments!
